Curriculum

PRE TAP- 

This class is for young dancers. The fun filled class emphasizes on coordination and rhythm. The children learn to coordinate their bodies by singing and doing tap steps simultaneously . Pre tap has proven to be a positive and fun dance experience for all young dancers. 

TAP- 

An American art form in which the dancer creates sound through rhythmic footwork. The dancing focuses on the development of the dancer as a whole and on the clarity of sound. It is performed to upbeat music and great for all ages. 

PRE BALLET-

This class is for young dancers. The focus is on simple ballet movements, such as basic positions and barre and center technique, taking directions and developing coordination. The goal is to provide a positive and fun experience to stimulate a love of dance.

BALLET- 

This is the foundation for all styles of dance, with an emphasis on proper technique, poise and balance. Ballet fosters not only an awareness of line, but also tones and strengthens the body. Ballet is fundamental to all dance forms and is strongly recommended. 

POINTE- 

An advanced form of ballet technique done on special pointe shoes that allows dancers to go up on their toes. Students must be of a certain age and development. Pointe classes are by teacher recommendation only. 

CECCHETTI BALLET- 

(Cha-keh-tee) These classes are offered for the more serious students who wish to improve ballet technique. The Cecchetti Council of America is an organization dedicated to maintaining the standards and method of ballet training established by Cav. Enrico Cecchetti. Students will test at each grade level and will earn certification at each level. 

JAZZ- 

This class develops flexibility and control through the use of stretches, isolations, turns, leaps and progressing combinations. It helps students discover their own sense of internal rhythm, coordination and personal style. There are many different styles of jazz, but most classes use upbeat and fun music. This class is offered to children as young as 5 years of age. 

HIP HOP- 

A dance style that can be best described as a modern fusion of Jazz and street dancing, often seen in music videos. It draws upon styles from pirouettes to breakdancing. This class is popular, fun and an energizing form of dance which allows the student to reflect his/her own personal style and creativity. 

MINI HIP HOP- 

This class is for students 5 and up. This style of dance is a funky version of jazz and taught to fun and age appropriate music. Children love this fun and energetic class! 

LYRICAL/ CONTEMPORARY- 

A combination of ballet, jazz and modern with an emphasis on dramatic interpretation of the music. It utilizes the fluidity of ballet with control of modern and the freedom of jazz movement. Students must be taking a ballet class in conjunction with this class. 

PROGRESSIONS- 

This class is for the more serious dancers. The class will focus on improving flexibility, stamina, technique and progressions across the floor. An excellent class choice for dancers who are trying to improve overall technique.
